I am a Medical Doctor from Germany and I have suffered migraine for 9 years. I would have 2-3 migraines per week and would have to lay down in a hospital bed in a dark room during my hospital duties. As an MD I had every drug available to my disposal, but no drug ever made could make even an impact upon the pain.

I have not had a migraine in four years.

I am a 45 year old woman and used to suffer with migraine headaches since I was a teenager. I tried using various types of medication and was not able to get rid of them. The migraines were often and would last three days. I was willing to try anything and my friend told me about Brendan Cleary and the Acupuncture that he offered.

Any one reading this letter would think that a person who has had M.S. since her early twenties (I am 57 now) and is a survivor of breast cancer among other serious ailments would not rank migraine headaches as a major cause of concern. On March 5, I had a terrible migraine. I work at a manufacturing plant as a supervisor and the noise of the forklift, flashing lights on the lines, and beeping of 2 way radios was driving the pain through my head. This was the first time in the three years that I have suffered with migraines that I had to leave work because of the pain.

I called the Ontario Migraine Clinic and got in for treatment right away. This was a migraine with extreme nausea and any movement by me or anyone else bothered me. A few minutes into my session, my nausea was completely gone and the sharp pains went to a dull headache. I left the office after about twenty minutes and went home migraine free!

I have never found anything that works this fast on a migraine with the added bonus of no side effects.

Beginning at the end of December I began getting severe migraine headaches 2-3 times per day. This unfortunately coincided with the beginning of my second term as a first year science student at the University of Toronto. I spent whole afternoons and evenings in bed, and a few lectures per week in he public washroom in tears, almost throwing up, waiting for the medication to take effect. I was taking various forms of Imitrex for the pain. After I exceeded the monthly recommended dosage, I started taking Tylenol 3. I realized that this was not the way to be successful in school, but what was I expected to do? As an MD told me half-way into the episode of headaches, this is something you'll have for the rest of your life, you'll have to learn to deal with it.

From a recommendation from a family friend, my parents and I decided to visit Brendan and the Ontario Migraine Clinic. During my first visit, I began to feel the regular signs of an attack approaching. I began to worry because I didn't have the drugs with me and I'd never had a migraine without taking something for it so I had no idea what the full effect was. I told Brendan as soon as I was sure what was happening. He began a more intensive treatment than I'd had the few minutes preceding. I've never had someone leave here with a headache, he said in an assuring voice.

But I've never had a headache without taking something for it, I thought to myself. From the onset of it, to the finish, about 30 minutes passed. The acupuncture worked, and for the first time a migraine went away without drugs. That trial convinced me without a doubt that this was for real, and worked far better than anything conventional western medicine could offer.

Over the past six weeks I've been having treatments. The few weeks following the start of the acupuncture, the headaches reduced in both frequency and severity. As of now, I've had a happy 4 weeks without a single headache and it feels fantastic. I have much more time to concentrate on my studies and getting my grades up.

For the past 28 years I have been afflicted with migraine headaches

In the last few years they had progressed to the point where they were taking over my life. In this great time span, I have been to numerous specialists, had CAT scans, MRIs and have tried every drug available ranging from Caffergot to Zomig. I have also taken many strong narcotics to be knocked out cold during a bad migraine. This was no way to live my life. As an elementary school teacher, I wanted (and needed!) to be energetic, fun and valuable to my students.

A colleague of mine left on my desk, a newspaper clipping about The Ontario Migraine Clinic. I was willing to try anything to get rid of these monstrous migraine headaches, so I made an appointment and met Brendan Cleary. In our consultation, Brendan told me he would rid me of my migraines. I looked at him and said, "you have no idea what you have just said to me". Even though I was skeptical about the treatments, and neither OHIP or my benefits plan would cover the payments, I was desperate enough to try anything.

I have to tell you I am seriously impressed. My husband even noticed a difference right away. After several weeks of treatment I am no longer getting chronic migraines. I had missed a lot of workdays because I couldn't even lift my head, let alone teach my students. I am pleased to say that this is a thing of the past.

Over the past eighteen years I have lived with excruciating migraines. I was treated by multiple doctors, pain management specialists, and countless prescriptions of medications which caused severe side effects. All of these treatments only led me to find that conventional medicine and prescriptions were not effective. Doctors told me that I had no other possibilities left to manage this pain, let alone to prevent my migraines from occurring.

With three small children, I found myself incapacitated at least three days per week from the severe pain of the migraines. The medication that I was told to take was not effective, I was losing my hair, unable to think clearly and was unable to remember important details due to the side effects of the drugs.

My mother-in-law told me about a friend of hers who was traveling from New York to Canada to receive acupuncture treatments for her health problems. I figured that I was at the end and that I had nothing to lose at this point, so I made the journey to Georgetown, Ontario with my two year old. I never expected to find a cure for my migraines, but after hearing the incredible success that Brendan Cleary was having with his migraine treatment, I was hopeful for at least some relief.

Within a few days I stopped having migraines as long as I continued taking my medication. Brendan said that soon I would be able to discontinue the medication that was causing terrible side effects.

Sure enough after about eight days of treatment I was able to come off the medication. Within several weeks the side effects discontinued and I was migraine free. IT WAS AMAZING!

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to stop having the migraines that I had experienced for eighteen years, but I did! It has been months now with not even one migraine and no medication. In the past I would have had 3 migraines a week on the medication and a daily migraine if I had forgotten to take a dose.

My life has changed dramatically. I could barely accomplish the things I wanted to do and now I have become more energetic, happier, and have no fear of having another debilitating migraine. It is such a great feeling when you realize that you've been through a day without thinking about whether you would have a migraine or not.

Now I can live my life without fear and that has opened the door to new possibilities and an appreciation for each day.

I have been suffering from migraine headaches for two years. This has been a continual state and I have been bedridden for most of the past two years due to the severity of the migraines and the loss of vision.

I have tried everything that my doctor has given me as far as drugs, I have also been to many pain specialists neurologists, eye doctors, received Mid's CAT scans.

I first came to see you almost two years ago. It was June of 2000. At that time I had been suffering from migraines for about ten years. They had been getting progressively worse at the time I came to see you. I rarely had a pain migraine free day. I had no real quality of life.

During the decade of pain, I was on a quest for a cure. My family doctor and a neurologist believed that it could be hormone related, so they put me on hormone pills. The Ontario Migraine Clinic in Georgetown feels a lot like home! I actually looked forward to my bi-weekly visits, even though it means three hours in the car, to get there and back.

As busy as the clinic is, Brendan Cleary gives each patient individual attention and is always willing to take the time to answer questions. Although he isn't a migraine suffer himself, he seemed to understand the depth of my pain. At the age of 7, my parents told me that I said, "Wouldn't today be a beautiful day if only our heads didn't hurt?" It was then, after a number of questions to me that my parents realized that I was suffering from chronic head pain, all day, all night, all the time.

Thus began a myriad of appointments with doctors - allergists, nutritionists, pediatric specialists, pediatric neurologists. Some appointments required hours of travel. We did not have a medical insurance plan most of this time and the money spent on medication and gasoline was very high. I was put on various allergy tablets, asthma medications, all types of painkillers that made me groggy, nauseated or dizzy. I had many hours of tests, CAT-Scans and pain monitoring. Many hours of travel taken to get to facilities where equipment and specialists were available. Finally, after two scary falls down a set of stairs due to the side effects of a powerful pain medication, and, after more tests and appointments at Sick Kids, with the offer of a pain management class, my parents knew we really needed to find another option after seven (7) years of trying everything.

My mother's work colleague recommended The Ontario Migraine Clinic as "a place where I would be treated compassionately by staff who know that head pain is horrible, but, treatable". Her friend was proof that acupuncture was a successful method of treatment for migraines.

We were desperate when we met with Brendan Cleary. He gave us hope when he told us that he could help me through acupuncture treatment. Our initial visit lasted an hour while he checked my medical history and many treatments. After a short physical for heart and body pulse rates, I received my first treatment. Within that hour of treatment, my head pain was alleviated!

Within 3-4 treatments I was totally pain-free. No more all day, all night pain.

I have been suffering from migraines for more than 30 years. I have been through the "conventional" treatments, filling my body and clouding my mind with prescription after prescription to get rid of these migraines. I have been treated with so many different types of medications. I have been on pain killers, beta blockers, preventative medicines, Flurinol, Imitrex, Zomig and Maxolt. I would still have a migraine almost every day.

Migraines interfered with my family life and my career. It put a large strain on my family. They would watch me suffer - sometimes for days at a time, and they couldn't do anything to help me. All they could do was leave me alone in a dark room until I felt better. My vision became impaired in the sense that I was sensitive to light or sometimes get blurred vision. My mind was cluttered and not focused. I couldn't stand to hear any type of noise. The pain was excruciating. Several times I have been hospitalized for treatment. I was taking medication almost every day for the pain. I would go through about $400.00 to $500.00 a month in medication for my migraines. I also tried acupuncture treatments but this didn't work for me (different acupuncture then what Brendan Cleary gives). It just got to the point that I got fed up with the pain and taking all this medication.

One day, my sister-in-law was watching Breakfast TV on CityTV. Their guest was Brendan Cleary PhD. He stated that he treated migraines and swore that he could get rid of migraines for good through acupuncture. When I was told this, I didn't believe it! I didn't think that he could get rid of migraines for good because I thought I had tried everything possible even acupuncture. I thought to myself, "Well, nothing else has worked for me, what do I have to lose?". So I decided to try this out.

I have been going to see Brendan Cleary for about 2 1/2 months now. I have only had one migraine since my treatments started! I was about a month into my treatments, and I had this migraine for three days (which Brendan told me would happen). I went in to see him on my scheduled appointment, hoping to get rid of this pain that had interrupted my life. When I came out of there, the migraine was gone! I was just so stunned and amazed that what he had said was true. He can cure migraines. I was so thrilled that my migraine was gone and very happy that I could get back to my everyday life. I have not had a migraine since.

Every time I go to the clinic I cannot believe the amount of people that are in there. I have spoken to other patients there and they all tell me the same thing, which is, Brendan Cleary has either helped lessen the frequency of their headaches or completely gotten rid of them (depending at what stage of the treatment that they are at). These patients come from all over the World.

In short, I would like to express my deepest appreciation and thank him from the bottom of my heart for curing my migraine headaches. He has changed my life for the better. I have never felt so good and I feel like I can accomplish anything. I can't believe that I had been suffering from these migraine headaches for over 30 years and then in a short 2 1/2 months they are gone. I can cope with everyday life, go to work, and especially enjoy my family without having a migraine headache. It is like I've never had them.
